[EDLING:635] Teachers and Wait Time

I recall several years ago hearing about studies of (language) teachers and
question wait time. From what I recall, the issue was that teachers
tend not to wait long enough for students to both formulate and articulate
their questions--something like they tend to wait about three seconds when
it would be better for students if they were to wait for five to seven
seconds. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Does anyone have references to
such studies?
