POSITION: Language-assessment specialist

The Center for Language Education and Research (CLEAR), a Title VI-funded
Language Resource Center at Michigan State University (MSU), is searching
for a language assessment specialist, to begin Fall 2005.

DUTIES:
Research and development pertaining to teaching materials and assessments
developed by CLEAR for use by teachers and learners of foreign languages.
Emphasis on research and development of assessment protocols for
small-group tutorials in less commonly taught languages (LCTLs). The
position may also involve conducting occasional teacher-training workshops
on language testing-related topics, to instructors of K-12 and
university-level foreign-language classes. In addition to the work at
CLEAR, part-time consulting with the testing staff of the English Language
Center at Michigan State University is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate-level degree, research experience, and demonstrated technical
expertise related to language testing, assessment and/or program
evaluation; significant prior experience teaching a foreign language (or
ESL); proficiency in a language other than English helpful; excellent oral
and written communication skills in English necessary.
