Preparing teachers for a changing context:

an international conference

 

Convened by the Institute of Education, University of London, 

and Beijing Normal University

 

3rd - 6th May 2006

 

London, UK

 

 

 

 

 

Colleagues from China, the UK and elsewhere interested in teacher
development and teacher education are invited to an international
academic conference, a forum for debate, on the following themes in the
primary, secondary and vocational/further education sectors:

 

-     the regulation of teacher education and development: standards and
professionalisation

-     the knowledge base of teachers: the balance between subject and
pedagogical          knowledge

-     citizenship, values and moral education: how should teachers be
trained in relation to          these areas? 

-     curriculum development and national priorities: standardisation,
uniformity and the       demands        of the knowledge economy

-     models and locations of teacher education: pre-service, in-service
and the role of       school/college-based learning and support

-     the training of mother tongue and foreign language teachers

 

 

Short abstracts of proposed papers are invited in English, and should be
submitted by

2 December 2005. Please email Dr Norman Lucas, Chair of the Conference
Academic Committee, on n.lucas at ioe.ac.uk

 

The Conference will be held at the Institute of Education, University of
London in the beautiful, historic heart of London. Excellent transport
links are close by, and advice on accommodation will be available to
delegates. Advanced registration for the conference is required.
