admired and respected Craig as a colleague and friend --got this sad news.

Dear AAAL Members,
I regret to inform you that our secretary-treasurer and friend, Craig 
Chaudron, died on August 21.  Craig, a dedicated supporter of AAAL for 29 
years, had served one year of his term as secretary-treasurer.  The 
Executive Committee will miss him very much and our thoughts are with our 
colleagues at the University of Hawai'i as we all attempt to cope with our 
loss.

According to the procedure specified in the by-laws, I have appointed Paul 
Angelis to fill in as interim secretary-treasurer until a new 
secretary-treasurer is elected.  We are very grateful to Paul, who has eight
 years of experience as AAAL's secretary-treasurer, for his willingness to 
step in during this crisis.

I have attached the announcement of Craig's death which includes information 
about the memorial service and condolences.
