Malaysia: Students 'cut and paste' due to poor language skills
THE article in the Education section Thou shall not copy (Star Education, Nov
26) is also the chant I have been saying as an academician to my students for
seven semesters in a row now.
Sometimes, it feels like I am talking to a wall, or into a deep well because it
seems like the students are not listening.
This is because, time and time again, I have students submitting plagiarised
assignments either on purpose or unknowingly.
Again and again, I have to deduct substantial marks from their assignments for
that act. English-medium tertiary institutions in Malaysia gives the country an
edge in becoming a regional education centre and we should improve on it.
