International Conference on Tertiary/College English Language Teaching (TCELT 2006)

First Call for Papers

Following the success of the international conferences held in previous years, the English
Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the National
Association of College English Teaching and Research in China (CETRAC) will jointly
organise another international conference in June 2006. The mainland host in 2006 will be
the Foreign Studies College of Northeastern University. The TCELT 2006 conference will
take place in two locations: Shenyang (June 1-2, 2006) and Hong Kong (June 5-6, 2006). It
is hoped that the dual locations will widen the participation and attract colleagues from
different parts of China and from other countries.

Invitation

The practice of language teaching has undergone enormous changes in recent years as a
result of advances in Information Technology (IT). Universities and schools have invested
heavily in IT in order to provide teachers with facilities which can make their teaching
more varied, more interesting and more effective. However, since the technology continues
to evolve rapidly, many of its language teaching applications are still being developed.
It is hoped that TCELT 2006 will provide an opportunity for language specialists to
present innovative IT-related work, as well as address some of the problems which the new
technology presents.
