The University of Luxembourg announces a position in its Faculty of Language
and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education (LSHASE) for its
sociocultural research Unit on learning and development (LCMI - Language,
Culture, Media & Identity)
PhD position, concerned with learning within interactive multimedia spaces.
2-year-contract, 20 hours/week, renewable once
The successful candidate will take part in the post-graduate
series/programme "Interaction, Learning & Development" striving to train
experts and excelling researchers with a multidisciplinary focus on
investigating learning and development as interactive processes mediated by
digital and non-digital tools, such as media within schooling as well as
contexts of everyday life and professional working environments.
We are looking for a highly engaged academic who is expected to
design and create interdisciplinary multimedia spaces as multimodal
articulations of/and interactive environments for development and learning
investigate enacted forms of communicating, knowing, reasoning, imagining,
speaking, playing within technologically enriched physical environments by
comprehensive process-tracking research methods
develop educational applications and multi-learn environments allowing for
experiencing and integrating new social, cognitive, emotional, aesthetic and
physical learning experiences beyond generally acknowledged boundaries
(e.g., virtual vs. 'real' space, transmedial identities etc.)
study possible approaches for communities, organizations or companies to
increase the informed creation and usage of interactive tools, such as 3D
virtual networked environments with regard to the object of these tools,
that is their dimensions of activity, learning as well as building and
transmission of knowledge.
Required qualifications:
You will be an enthusiastic graduate with prior experiences in gathering and
analysing process-relevant qualitative data and a strong interest in
researching interaction, learning and development from a socio-cultural,
socio-mediational or cultural-historical perspective.
You are holding an excellent master's degree (or an equivalent
qualification) in the field of the learning sciences, cultural psychology,
new media and adaptive technology design, communication or media studies
with a specific emphasis on learning.
You will be a good, interculturally and plurilingually aware team player,
willing to contribute to the development of the LUCEL media lab for learning
and to collaborate with the local (academic, technological and non-academic)
working groups as well as the international projects you will be involved
in. Excellent communication skills, good time management and organizational
skills are an obvious asset.
As you join a multilingual research team, you have excellent command of at
least two of the following languages: English, French and/or German (written
and spoken).
