Salary Range: $38,801 - $67,092 commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

 

Description
The Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education at Queens College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor, with a specialization in the assessment of literacy to begin employment in Fall 2008.

 

Duties
Teaching graduate courses in both standard and authentic assessments, including the practical applications of screening and intervention strategies in a clinical setting, and coordinating clinical sites for literacy services as well as supervision 



Maintaining a program of research and publication in the area of literacy 



Advising students in the Literacy Program 



Service to the Department and the College 

Opportunities for innovative teaching and research through: 
Department's collaboration with the Lincoln Center Institute 



Public elementary school housed on College campus

 

Qualifications
Doctorate in literacy education or related area completed by August 31, 2008 is required. Experience teaching literacy to children in an elementary classroom setting; experience administering the Observation Survey1 DRA K-3 and the Qualitative Reading Assessment1 DRA 4-8 as well as other standard and authentic assessments to at risk children; experience in clinical supervision and coordination of literacy clinic services; college teaching experience in assessment; and ability to integrate technology in instruction are preferred.
