New education policy in May, says Ahsan

ISLAMABAD: Federal Education Minister Ahsan Iqbal Friday said that a
new education policy to be presented in the Federal Cabinet for
approval by the end of May. The National Assembly discussed the
national education policy in detail on Friday and decided that work on
new syllabus will be completed by National Curriculum Council (NCC) in
2008. Speaking in the question hour in the National Assembly, Minister
for Education Ahsan Iqbal said that National Curriculum Council is
looking into this matter, and keeping in view developed countries
curriculum it will be formed. He said that it will be on the pattern
of 21 century. Responding to another question regarding madrissa
syllabus, he said that we will also deliberate on this issue.
Participating in the debate, MNA Ayaz Ameer questioned about two
medium of education including English and Urdu, asking that is there
any consideration in this regards. Ahsan Iqbal remarked that it is our
failure that two systems are in the country.
