Qualified Maltese language proof-readers 

 

"We are establishing high standards for the Maltese language," said the Head of Department of Maltese at the University of Malta, Professor Manwel Mifsud, during the recent ceremony in honour of 34 students who successfully completed an intensive University Certificate Course in Proof-reading Maltese. 

This course, which has been running for only two years, has fast become popular as it is very useful and practical. In fact, a number of the new proof-readers have already found employment with the private sector and with a number of European Union institutions.

Prof. Mifsud expressed his satisfaction that this specialised sector is now being given due recognition. "Proof-reading is an essential element in the production of books and magazines - an element which should never ignored.
