Subject: Information on the 2008 University of Wisconsin-Madison Arabic and Persian Immersion Program
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is proud to announce that
applications for the 2008 Arabic and Persian Immersion Program (APIP)
are now being accepted.
Held on the scenic campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse,
students will be fully immersed in either Arabic or Persian language and
culture for 8 weeks. Offerings for the summer will include beginning,
intermediate, and advanced levels of both Arabic and Persian.
Experienced faculty and staff from UW-Madison and other premier
universities will teach our courses.
In addition to pursuing rigorous curricula, students will participate in
extracurricular activities, enjoy films from the Arabic and Iranian
worlds, and partake in meals and field trips, all in the company of our
faculty and a diverse population of heritage speakers. Everything from
morning meals to late-night study sessions will be conducted in the
chosen language of study.
Under the APIP Language Contract, students will complete the equivalent
of a full year of study in a controlled yet empowering language
environment. This environment will allow students to achieve their full
potential both during and after the program. Students can expect to
push the limits of their language skills and learning abilities
throughout the summer.
APIP is a joint project of the College of Letters & Science, Global
Studies, and the Departments of African Languages & Literature and
Languages & Cultures of Asia, all located on the campus of the
University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Thanks very much,
