The New School
Chair, Department of English Language Studies
NSGS/Dept Administration ESL
The New School is seeking a senior TESOL scholar to lead its department of English Language Studies. The Department runs a newly launched on-line Master's program in TESOL professions, with an inaugural class of 22 students, pursuing a Teaching or Curriculum Development concentration. A summer entry point allows for a cohort to begin the program with on-site intensive coursework. The department also runs an academic intensive English program, pre-service certificate in Teaching English (CTE), and courses in speech for native speakers. Each semester over 60 courses are offered in those areas (including the summer).
The successful candidate will play a major role in developing the new master's program, and exploring links to related areas (such as publishing and program management in TESOL professions). Candidates must therefore possess a broad-based expertise in the field, with a terminal degree (or equivalent professional background), extensive administrative experience, a recognized body of scholarly work. Finally, experience with on-line teaching or education is highly desirable. This is a administrative appointment with an underlying faculty position and the successful candidate is expected to teach in one or more of the curricular areas. Salary, rank, and tenure are open.
Please send a letter of interest and C.V. on line and mail three letters of reference and sample publications to:
