Scientists to teach 'toddlerbot' to speak
A synthetic "toddlerbot" is to be taught language in a British-led effort to create humanoid robots which learn, think and talk.

A consortium led by the University of Plymouth beat competition from 31 others to win a £4.7-million grant for the Italk - Integration and Transfer of Action and Language Knowledge in Robots - project.
The four-year project which begins next month is coordinated by Professor Angelo Cangelosi and Dr Tony Belapeme at Plymouth and includes Professor Chrystopher Nehaniv and Professor Kerstin Dautenhahn at the University of Hertfordshire.
