Salary: $53,800 - $72,100 (commensurate with experience)

About EHLS
English for Heritage Language Speakers (EHLS) is an English for professional purposes program that prepares native speakers of critical languages for positions with the federal government. The 8-month program involves 6 months of full-time, intensive instruction followed by 2 months of part-time study. EHLS is funded by the National Security Education Program (U.S. Department of Defense) and managed by the Center for Applied Linguistics. All instruction currently takes place at Georgetown University. The EHLS program manager reports to the EHLS program director and works with research assistants and other CAL staff.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Provide program management functions related to all aspects of participant recruiting and admission to program. In collaboration with program partners, coordinate national-level recruiting/advertising campaign for applicants to the program; oversee application process and manage applicant intake testing; participate in selection of program participants; manage exit testing.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop coordinated strategic plan for outreach to communities of critical language speakers throughout the United States; establish and maintain relationships with community and professional organizations as appropriate
Develop, conduct and evaluate annual national-level recruiting campaign, to include multi-city advertising plan, information sessions in key cities, and other aspects TBD
Oversee ongoing updates to program website
Review and edit program application as needed (online and paper versions)
Oversee applicant interview process and coordinate administration and scoring of applicant interviews
Participate in application review and applicant provisional selection
Schedule and oversee testing of provisionally selected applicants
Participate in site visits to program site
Schedule and oversee exit testing for program participants
Manage budget for advertising, recruitment travel, external language testing
Collaborate with and provide support to program partners as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Master's degree in TESL, Linguistics, Education, or related discipline. Knowledge of principles of second language acquisition and language testing strongly preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of five years of professional experience is required, including experience working with adult English language learners, preferably as an instructor, and at least one year of project management experience with supervisory responsibilities. Background in working with English language learners from the Middle East and North Africa, South Central Asia, and East Asia or familiarity with these communities in the United States strongly preferred.
Skills:
Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; proficiency with design/layout software and Web design software a plus. Must have strong oral and written communication skills in English.
Other Requirements:
Must be able to provide leadership and collaborate well on a team, prioritize work, and give attention to detail while meeting deadlines. Must have strong organizational and multitasking skills. A high level of intercultural awareness and understanding, demonstrated through relevant previous experience, is strongly preferred. Must be available for travel for program marketing and recruiting purposes.
