The International Conference on Applied Linguistics: Developments, Challenges, and Promises - September 26-27, 2009
Tehran's Milad Tower Conference Hall
September 26-27, 2009
Call for papers
The International Conference on Applied Linguistics: Developments, Challenges, and Promises will be dealing with some of the basic questions the professional applied linguistics community is confronted with. The main idea behind the conference is to generate debate on the identity of the profession, directions that applied linguistics has taken so far, and possible problems and challenges it has to come to terms with.
We are encouraging papers that deal with either the theory or practice of applied linguistics; priority will be given to those submissions that address the current controversies the profession is dealing with.
There are two types of submissions for the conference: papers and posters. Papers will be each 20 minutes presentations, plus ten minutes for Q & A. Posters will be displayed in the area outside the presentation hall.
The keynote speakers for the conference are (alphabetically arranged):
Professor David Block, University of London
Professor Guy Cook, The Open University
Professor Hossein Farhady, American University of Armenia
Professor Barbara Seidlhofer, University of Vienna
Professor Henry Widdowson, University of Vienna
The deadline for abstract submission is June 14, 2009. Notification of acceptance will be sent by July 10. Early registration deadline is August 5; all the participants whose papers have been accepted must register before the deadline.
