BANGALORE: While the state government attempts to avert possible
contempt charges in the Karnataka High Court over language policy,
private management schools, on Saturday, filed a petition before the
governor seeking direction to the state government for the
implementation of the full bench order on language policy. KV
Dhananjay, counsel of the Karnataka Unaided Private Management
Schools, has submitted the memorandum to the Governor Hans Raj
Bharadwaj seeking his intervention in the matter.
The memorandum states: "The officers of the government have willfully
disobeyed the order of the court, infringing the fundamental right to
education. When the elected government has failed to implement the
court order, it is the duty of the governor to direct the state
government to do so." In May 2009, the private unaided management
schools petitioned before the then governor Rameshwar Thakur and Chief
Minister B S Yeddyurappa seeking their intervention in the matter.
