Northwestern professor's research shows advantages of bilingualism

 

Northwestern professor Viorica Marian's research into how bilingual people learn language is producing answers about how the brain learns language and providing new information about people who are quickly becoming a worldwide majority. 

"Bilinguals are very likely to become the majority in the next few decades," Marian said. "Outside the U.S. it's the norm to grow up with two or more languages and then later acquire additional languages."
