Quantitative Research Assistant
Division/Program: Language Testing Division
Hours per week: Full time (35)
Salary: mid 40's FTE per annum, depending upon qualifications
Position Available: Immediately
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Work under the direction of the Associate Manager for Psychometrics/ Research and the Coordinator of the Quantitative Research Team to assist in the preparation of data from a large-scale English language proficiency test. Coordinate schedules of Psychometrics/Research team and Quantitative Research Team. Assist the Quantitative Research Team in applying measurement and statistical research design and data analytical methods to language testing and applied linguistic problems.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate scheduling of projects for Psychometrics/Research team
Manage team and project calendars for Psychometrics/Research and Quantitative Research teams
Oversee collecting, entering, and cleaning data, taking appropriate steps to ensure its quality
Establish and maintain communication with those who provide raw data to CAL
Assist in analyzing data from various CAL projects by applying appropriate quantitative research methods
Assist in writing reports of the research
Proofread data, analyses, and reports of project team members
Apply of software tools for test and survey development.
Create and implement layout design for survey and test answer sheets
Assist other CAL staff in issues of quantitative research and language testing
Coordinate dissemination of researcher developed instruments
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience or Master's Degree preferred.
Experience:
At least 2 years of project coordination, data preparation, analysis and reporting experience.
Additional Qualifications:
Outstanding organizational and time management skills
Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Strong EXCEL, SPSS, and database skills
Ability to communicate quantitative results to a broad audience
Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
Writing, editing, and proofreading skills (APA style a plus)
Ability to take direction as well as to work independently
Established track record of working successfully in team situations
