Training and Curriculum Development Specialist
Division: Language and Culture Resources/Cultural Orientation Resource (COR) Center
Hours per week: Full time (35)
Salary: $50,000 to $55,000, depending on qualifications
Position Available: October 16, 2009
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Use expertise in training and curriculum development to further the COR Center's work in providing technical assistance to overseas refugee orientation programs and the domestic resettlement community. Some national and international travel and occasional weekend work may be required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and update curricula and other training materials for overseas Cultural Orientation (CO) program staff, U.S. resettlement agency staff, and newcomer integration service providers
Design and facilitate workshops for overseas Cultural Orientation (CO) program staff,
U.S. resettlement agency staff, and newcomer integration service providers
Provide curriculum and program development support to overseas CO programs
Conduct domestic site visits to provide on-site technical assistance to partners, in the areas of curriculum development and training methodology
Represent CAL and COR Center in communication with partners and the public
Assist with logistics for COR Center conferences and related workshops
Present at conferences on behalf of CAL and the COR Center
Develop new content for the COR Center Web site, www.culturalorientation.net, including materials for CO provider toolkits and newcomer integration case studies
Post and edit documents in Dreamweaver
Manage Refugee Discussion electronic list membership in Excel and Lyris
Respond to daily requests for information from overseas and U.S. programs
Raise awareness of the CO Web site, discussion list, and materials
Other activities as assigned by the COR Center Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
M.A. in International Education or related field. Coursework and interest in refugee issues desirable.
Experience:
At least five years of experience working in cross-cultural training design and delivery and/or international education, with a focus on curriculum development is required. Administrative office experience with working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, including Outlook, is desirable. Familiarity with Dreamweaver is also desirable. Must have good communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
