4th Biennial International Conference on Task-Based Language Teaching

Under the auspices of the International TBLT Consortium and 
the Department of Applied Language Studies and Linguistics, University of Auckland

 

Call for Papers

This conference invites papers that investigate task-based language teaching, learning, and assessment from classroom and research perspectives. It particularly welcomes papers that evaluate tasks and task-based teaching in authentic pedagogical contexts from around the world. In particular, preference will be given to papers that explore relationships among different research perspectives and connections between research, theory, and practice. All papers and colloquia should be strongly centred in the study and use of language tasks or the various uses of tasks in language teaching.

We are inviting proposals for individual papers of 20 minutes (plus questions) and proposals for colloquia (2 hours maximum including discussion). We also invite proposals for posters. 

Deadline for Receipt of Abstracts:  15 November, 2010

Confirmation of acceptance:           20 December,  2010


Abstract Submission

TBLT 2011 welcomes abstracts for individual papers, colloquia and posters. We also especially welcome abstracts from emerging researchers and language teachers using tasks. 

Please note: Each presenter may only participate in one presentation, be it an individual paper, poster, or paper within a colloquium.

The deadline for abstract submission is 15 November, 2010. Please send the abstract as an attachment either in Microsoft Word Document or in Rich Text Format (RTF), and include any special fonts (e.g., IPA) you may have used.


Evaluation of Proposals

Submissions will be evaluated on the basis of the following: 

Appropriateness and significance of the topic in relation to the conference theme Tasks: context, purpose, and use 

Originality of the research 

Clarity of stated research questions, description of research design, data collection methods, and analytical frameworks and procedures, as appropriate 

(For colloquia) Careful time planning for each presentation and audience participation, and overall coherence of the individual presentations.
