Are you passionate about providing student-centered English as a Second Language (ESL) education of the highest quality? Can you lead new program and service initiatives in the international arena? Are you a proven leader who has successfully managed diverse relationships; effectively made complex decisions; and created the "new and different"? If so, you may be interested in our new position as Director of Global Initiatives and Intensive English Program. You will lead a CEA accredited program with a staff and faculty of 20, negotiate and plan with external and academic partners, and manage the day-to-day operations of a growing Intensive English Program with aggressive goals in program growth and innovation. In the global initiatives arena you will identify, develop, implement, and manage a new and existing portfolio of programs for the global market in a matrix environment; work with business, government, and NGO's to inform program development; and seek funding to support new projects.
You should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and leadership skills, extensive international experience, a strong commitment to quality and customer service, and the ability to work with diverse audiences across cultures. Familiarity with the academic culture of higher education combined with strong strategy development and business acumen skills is imperative. We seek candidates who are technology savvy and are able to demonstrate the experience and ability to advance Outreach's diversity initiative.
A Masters in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, International Education or a related field is required, although a doctorate is preferred; five to ten years of experience in a university affiliated Intensive English Program or International Education involving language learners in a university management/leadership role, along with experience developing partnerships is required. Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. This is a non-tenure track, open rank, fixed term appointment.
Individuals interested in the position should send a letter of professional interest, a curriculum vita, and the names and contact information of at least three professional references to: Melinda Stearns, Senior Director, Outreach Strategic Initiatives, mms9 at psu.edu or mail to Penn State University, 314E, The 329 Building, University Park, Pa 16802.
