The University of Reading in the UK is proud to announce its new Centre for Literacy and Multilingualism (CeLM), which launched Sept. 3rd 2013 with its inaugural event featuring keynote address by Prof. Judith Kroll (Penn State); Antonella Sorace (Edinburgh); Prof. Rhona Stainthorp (University of Reading) and Prof. Bill VanPatten (Michigan State).
The centre's research has two main foci:
i) Language acquisition, processing and assessment in multilingual contexts, academic literacy and academic achievement in multilingual contexts.
ii) Interdisciplinary research into Literacy and Multilingualism, engaging in collaboration the fields of Psychology, Clinical Language Sciences, Neuroscience, Applied Linguistics and Education.
- The centre has associate members from around the world and who are among the foremost experts in the above-mentioned subfields.
- Collaborations with individuals, centres, universities and networks working on similar topics are very welcome.
- PhD students interested in doing work on any facet of multilingualism are encouraged to contact us.
