The Department of Language Sciences and Foreign Literatures and the Centre for Higher Education
Internationalisation of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, together with the EuroCALL
MALL SIG, are pleased to welcome you to an international two-day symposium focusing on recent
Computer-Assisted Language Learning and Mobile-Assisted Language Learning research and future
directions.
The symposium is open to researchers, including doctoral students, practitioners and teacher
educators, and will be held over two days at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy.
The symposium will focus on the latest research and practices in technology-mediated language
learning and explores perspectives for effective technology integration in language teaching and
learning in various educational contexts globally. The emphasis will be on the intercultural and
pedagogical opportunities, challenges and limitations that technologies and mobile devices can
offer, also within the perspective of the internationalisation of higher education.
Prof. Agnes Kukulska-Hulme from the Open University and Prof. Michael Thomas from the University
of Central Lancashire have confirmed their participation as keynote speakers at the symposium.
Papers are invited on the following topics:
Learner perspectives and perceptions of CALL/MALL
Empirical evaluations of CALL/MALL approaches
MALL for telecollaboration
Virtual exchanges
CALL and MALL task design
Innovations in MALL
EU projects on CALL/MALL
Institutional curriculum innovation
Teachers’ professional development
CALL/MALL and higher education internationalisation
CALL/MALL for inclusive learning
Proposals are invited for two conference formats:
1. Research paper: 25-minute presentations (20 minutes for presenting, 5 minutes for questions)
2. Workshop: 50-minute session involving examples for classroom practice, guidelines for
teachers, and resources for further development.
The conference language is English and all proposals for Papers, MALL/CALL-related European
Projects and Workshops must be submitted and conducted in English.
Abstracts should be between 250-300 words, including title and basic bibliography, and must specify
the conference format for which they are being submitted (research paper or workshop). The
applicant’s name, affiliation and email address should be included on a separate page. Please email

Each proposal will be subject to blind peer-review by two members of the Scientific Committee and
rated according to:

Content and originality
Clarity and coherence of session description
