Abstract
In this presentation I will discuss two major concepts: Social justice and
globalization. Using existential sociolinguistics theoretical framework and
philosophical reflection methods, I will discuss how these concepts should
influence major world languages’ studies (MWLS) such as English, Romance
languages, and Chinese language studies in the context of the discourse of
decolonizing mindset, intercultural justice, and existential literacy
mentorship. The Question that this presentation attempts to answer is: How
should social justice and globalization notions influence MWLS in the age
of global justice and global market discourse? In response, while social
justice proposes human values in navigating traditional and modern issues
in (MWLS) studies, globalization proposes cultural and linguistic
marketization and cultural and linguistic interdependence or hybridity as
imperatives that no serious policy or program can reject to adjust.
