Dear colleagues,
have you ever tried to approach respective funding associations - e.g. the German Exchange Service ?https://www2.daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/international-programmes/en/

Dear List members,
I am an Algerian scholar, full professor of linguistics and language dynamics ; with considerable record of academic international publications . I would like to know why is it mission impossible for an African internationally recognized scholar to find a remote position in a university or be accepted in a visiting professor program located in the western world? I am looking forward to hearing your comments, suggestions and some tips .
Best,
Amel Algeria
Dear Amel, I would be specific and say an African scholar located in Africa! They way you put it sound like there are no African visitors or full professors with your credentials in Western Universities.
Second, I think there are many factors to take into account (1) the visiting or full professorship has become almost impossible mission within the western universities for the Western citizens or scholars themselves. Position cut, départements closing, econotechnocracy phenomenon! (2) Some African scholars located in African have been denied visa entries in some western countries for political or bilateral no existing relations with the inviting countries. (3) we live in the age of econotechnocracy, it is no longer academic credentials that matter nor political competence and better qualities, but economic and technological power! Most professors of your prominence will tell you that it has become almost mission impossible to find an assistant professor position for new ph.D. not because of any discriminatory attitudes or mindset but NO MONEY!
As you may know Professors in Western Universities have also the responsibility to go after money / grant writing for their departments, most departments are also politicized!
It is just a phenomenon of sociopolitical and intellectual global order degradation! Those African, Asian, and western Universities that are doing well thanks to the money inherited from donations and their governance subsidies, have to run that money with strict management recommendations! It is tough everywhere my brother! Only Hope and self-fulfillment mindset can help one keeps the joy and courage required to prosper and actively contribute in academia today!
