We'd like to alert folk to a new Special Issue that might interest some of you.

Steve Graham, Gustaf B. Skar, and Debra Myhill are seeking papers for a special issue on writing for the journal Scientific Studies of Reading. The special issue will publish research focused on writing development, instruction, or both. Examples of appropriate studies include investigations examining how writing is taught, how to teach writing effectively, reading and writing connections, motivational beliefs and writing, writing development, cognitive and social mechanisms underlying how writing develops, testing models of writing development, and the effects of writing on learning and comprehension. We also welcome high-quality investigations that apply either quantitative, qualitative, and/or other research methodologies. We are seeking abstracts for the special issue no later than November 1, 2024. Of course, they would be welcomed earlier. Abstracts should be sent to steve.graham at asu.edu<mailto:steve.graham at asu.edu>. If you would like to speak directly to Steve Graham about a possible paper please contact him at his email.

Please do pass this message on to any colleagues who may be interested.
