The Maryland English Institute  <https://marylandenglishinstitute.com/>(MEI)
is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Director.
The Director will lead and manage the MEI faculty and staff, be responsible
for the overall operation of the Institute, and report directly to the Dean
of the College of Education <https://education.umd.edu/>. The Director will
support the strategic vision of the Institute and collaborate with the
College of Education faculty and staff.
Maryland English Institute
<https://marylandenglishinstitute.com/>(MEI) provides
high-quality English language instruction and assessment at the
postsecondary level for English learners, aiming to support academic,
professional, and personal language development. MEI offers a full-time,
multi-level Intensive English Program, part-time courses for University of
Maryland students, programs for international graduate Teaching Assistants,
communication assessments for Teaching Assistants, and custom-designed
programs for both UMD affiliates and external organizations. MEI delivers
rigorous academic courses while fostering a positive, supportive learning
environment and promoting intercultural understanding.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in a field related to language, TESOL, multilingual learner
education, or international education.

Experience:
• Experience with English (as an additional language) teaching in higher
education and/or leadership.
• Proven personnel supervision and team management skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of anti-racist pedagogy and experience integrating diversity,
equity, and belonging efforts in courses, programs, or institutional
processes.
• Knowledge of future trends and innovations in English language learning
and higher education.
• Evidence of data-informed decision-making
• Experience working with faculty in higher education.
• Ability to forge relationships across campus and design new courses and
programs.
