[Edling] JLIE Call for 2027 Special Issue Proposals

Dear All,

The Journal of Language, Identity, and Education (JLIE) is now accepting proposals for the 2027 special issue.  If you are interested in guest-editing a special issue, please send your proposal to the Editors, Dr. Wayne E. Wright (wewright at purdue.edu)<mailto:wewright at purdue.edu)> & Dr. Hyun-Sook Kang (hka at illinois.edu<mailto:hka at illinois.edu>) with the following information by August 1, 2025.

Title of the special issue:
Rationale for the special issue:

  *   Why is this topic significant and timely?
  *   Why is JLIE is a good venue for this topic?
Structure of the special issue:

  *   Various structures are possible, but generally, we can accommodate 4 to 5 regular length (up to 9,000 words) papers, OR 6 shorter papers in a special issue. You may also have a book review or two that are aligned with the topic of the special issue.
  *   Author names, titles, and abstracts (300 words max) of the papers you plan to have in the special issue, OR a description of the process you will undertake to call for papers.
Peer review process:

  *   Please outline how you plan to conduct a peer review process (Please note that JLIE papers must be peer-reviewed. For special issues, guest editors are responsible for the peer review process.)
Timeline:

  *   Please outline the deadlines for the following steps:
     *   Initial submission
     *   First peer reviews
     *   Revisions
     *   Second reviews
     *   Submission of the final manuscripts to JLIE
  *   Please note that we are planning to publish this special issue in the second half of 2027.  To complete the production for the last issue (Issue 6) of the year, all complete manuscripts must be submitted by March 31, 2027.
Proposals will be reviewed by the JLIE Editorial Team. Notification of the decision will be sent by August 22, 2025. Please contact the Editors if you have any questions or comments.
