Dear Colleagues,

We would like to share the following announcement with readers of Edling:

We are pleased to announce publication of the 3rd edition of Mapping Applied Linguistics: A Guide for Students and Practitioners (Routledge, 2026).

This book maps the field of applied linguistics around the world, integrating sociocultural and cognitive foundations and incorporating a problem-solving approach to language-related issues. Chapters focus on language variation, bilingual, ESL/additional language teaching, and literacy education as well as affiliate fields such as forensic linguistics, translations and interpretation, discourse analysis, language policy and planning, and language pathology. Educational linguists will find many new readings and resources on raciolinguistics, translanguaging, and generative AI for teaching and learning applied linguistics. The end-of-chapter activities and online support materials are designed for use with advanced undergraduates or master's level students, especially those working in international settings.
