Dear All,
You are warmly invited to the above-mentioned symposium organized by
the Department of English at National Taiwan Normal University. The
symposium, which will be conducted in a hybrid format (in person and
online), features two keynote presentations by two renowned scholars in
English Medium Instruction (EMI), alongside eight classroom-based studies
on disciplinary learning through EMI. Conducted collaboratively by
disciplinary specialists, applied linguists and education researchers,
these studies span ecology, ethnomusicology, interior design, feminist
history, chemistry, computer engineering, history, and human and natural
resources management. The two keynote speakers and two other
distinguished EMI scholars will serve as respondents, offering critical
commentaries on the studies. Details of the symposium are as follows:

*Dates*: October 31 (Sat) and November 1 (Sun), 2026. The program starts
at 09:00 each day, Taipei time (UTC+8).
- *Venue*: Jiao 202, Education Building, National Taiwan Normal
University, Taipei. *Online participation is also available.*
- *Host*: Department of English, National Taiwan Normal University,
convened by Amy B. M. Tsui, Yushan Fellow at NTNU, with support from Yushan
Fellowship Program, Ministry of Education, Taiwan.
- *Keynote* *speakers*: Christiane Dalton-Puffer (University of Vienna);
Ana Llinares (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid)
- *Respondents*: Christiane Dalton-Puffer (University of Vienna); Ana

Oxford); Jim McKinley (University College London)
- *Registration*: Free of charge. In-person registration closes
on October 24, 2026, 5pm Taipei time; online registration remains open
