What is the FYK?
================

The Frysk Ynternasjonaal Kontakt (FYK) is an organization that
strives to make young Frisians aware of their language and
culture. The focus is on international contacts. By meeting young
people from other lesser-used language areas, one can discover
the advantages of ones own language and culture. Recent
international activities were exchanges with Kashubians, East Frisians, North
Frisians, Sorbians, Britons, Welshmen, etc.
Furthermore, it is quite stimulating to know that there are more lesser-used
language areas in Europe. Therefore, the FYK is
presently trying to establish internet contacts between schools
in Westerlauwer Friesland and North Friesland.
Apart from the international activities there are also many
activities organized in Frisia itself, e.g. summer camps, trips to the open-air
theatre in Jorwert or to Tryater and to the PC "keatsen" games in Frjentsjer.

Who can join the FYK?
=====================

Everyone between the ages of 15 and 35 who is interested in the
goals and activities of the FYK, can become a member. (Presently,
we have also got members from North and East Friesland in
Germany.)
If you are over 35 and you are interested in the goals of the
FYK, then become a contributor!

How to contribute to the FYK?
=============================

The FYK is run entirely by volunteers. Apart from
membership fees, we are receiving finacial support from the
province of Frysl^an and from the European Community. Yet,
economy measures make it more and more difficult to cover the
expenses.

For Hfl. 25 you can become a member (more is also allowed, of
course). You will then receive six editions of our periodical De
Fykljepper per year.

You can also become a contributor to the FYK. For Hfl. 25 you
will also receive De Fykljepper. Ten-guilder-contributors are
also heartily welcomed. For Hfl 10 per year you can help the FYK
to continue its activities. You will then receive an annual
report of the FYK activities.
