Dear ELL people,
Contrary to Greg Charlton's posting on Wednesday, the native
languages of the western hemisphere are hardly being ignored.
For information on current scholarship see the website of the
Society for the Study of the Indigenous Languages of the Americas:
http://www.ssila.org
For links to the best of the many websites devoted to specific
languages (some of them maintained by tribally based organizations
devoted to the revitalization of traditional languages and cultures)
the best portal is the Native Languages page at Lisa Mitten's website:
http://www.pitt.edu/~lmitten/natlang.html
Another very useful site is Jon Reyhner's "Teaching Indigenous
Languages" page:
http://www2.nau.edu/~jar/TIL.html
