ELL: list purpose

I do wonder, why should anyone be treated like this publicly? I do not even understand what this is all about and I do not want to understand. If someone to anyone's mind did make a mistake in some quarter, please tell her privately. It's such a sorry sight how, wherever you go, members of whatever mailing list resort to this kind of public stoning every once in a while.
