William Bright will also be at the Karuk Tribal Council Meeting in Orleans
on Thursday, February 26 to give a brief presentation. A Yreka event is
proposed for late spring or summer.
In 1955 William Bright received his doctorate in linguistics from the
University of California, Berkeley, where his dissertation was a grammar of
the Karuk language. From 1959 to 1988 he taught linguistics and
anthropology at UCLA; now he is Professor Adjoint in Linguistics, University
of Colorado, Boulder. He has helped with Karuk language revitalization
efforts for many years.
