Endangered Languages List subscribers who will be in London between now and 23rd September 2005 may be interested to visit an exhibition at the Brunei Gallery, School of Oriental and African Studies (Russell Square, not far from the British Museum) entitled "Endangered Voices" which features seven panels traversing issues and instances of Language and Culture, Languages in Competition, Language and Literacy, Language and Technology, Language Revitalisation and Language Documentation. The exhibition complements a sound installation also at the Brunei Gallery called "Hearing Voices" which presents photographs and sound recordings of the San people of Botswana. Further details about the exhibition and installation can be found at: http://www.hrelp.org/events/endangeredvoices/
An interactive multimedia CD-ROM developed by the sound artist John Wynne and software developer Robert Munro and featuring stories, songs and interviews in English and various San languages dealing with the topics of the exhibition and installation is available from the Endangered Languages Project at SOAS - write to zp2 at soas.ac.uk if you are interested in purchasing a copy of this unique publication.
