URGENT!!! 

H.R. 4766- PASSED THE HOUSE 

At about 8:45 pm EST, H.R. 47666, The Esther Martinez Native Language
Preservation Act of 2006, sponsored by Heather Wilson (R-NM) passed the
House of Representatives! This is a great victory for NIEA, but there is
still work to be done on the Senate side. 

NIEA has learned that Senator Akaka (D-HI) may place a hold on H.R.
4766. NIEA wants him to know of Indian Country's strong support for H.R.
4766 and we are asking that everyone resend their letters ASAP to
Senators Akaka and Inouye (D-HI) to the fax #s below.
