Is cacheing necessary for data collection?

Hi, Kim,
I can't quickly find how to turn off caching in Windows XP. I would go
to microsoft.com & use their knowledge base to find out how to make it
stop. There are other ways to save memory in XP, too, like reducing
resources allowed for virtual memory and turning off its built-in
default ability to go back to a previous state. Basically you want XP to
devote its resources to your experiment instead of to its own navel.
I'm sure other folks in the maillist have experience with taming the XP
beast.
