Assistant/Associate Professor, Intercultural Communication

The Department of Communication at the University of Maryland, College
Park, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at
the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with a primary emphasis
in the area of intercultural communication. The starting date for this
position is August 23, 2012.

The successful candidate will demonstrate or show promise of
significant research, have a high level of competence in undergraduate
and graduate teaching, and be capable of directing graduate research
in intercultural communication. In addition, it would be desirable for
the candidate’s research to intersect with one or more of the
department's other research areas (feminist studies; health
communication; media studies; persuasion and social influence; public
relations; and rhetoric and political culture). Ability to teach
communication theory and research methods is required, and teaching
experience at the university level is highly desirable.

The Department of Communication offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees.
Its program in intercultural communication was ranked 5th in the 2004
National Communication Association’s reputational study of doctoral
programs.

The University of Maryland is located within the Washington, DC
metropolitan area, one of the world’s most ethnically diverse and
internationally significant cities.  Applicants interested in the
