Title: Instructional Communication

General: The Department of Communication in the College of Arts &
Humanities at California State University, Fresno seeks applicants for a
tenure-track, academic year position of Assistant Professor in
Instructional Communication (including, but not limited to, Communication
and Learning, Critical Pedagogy, and/or Communication Education). The
successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate students,
conduct scholarly research, and engage in service-related activities.
Teaching and research interests will be in the area of instructional
communication with the opportunity to develop courses in her/his area of
specialization. A typical teaching responsibility will be in COMM 114
(Communication and Learning), a course that is part of the department’s
curricular offerings. This course is also part of the Liberal Studies
department’s curricular offerings. The candidate may also contribute to the
department’s core curricular offerings. Specific assignments are dependent
on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

*Qualifications:*
Required Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.):

   1. Must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.)
   2. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be
   considered; however, for appointment, the doctorate must be completed by
   August 15, 2019.

Required Experience:

   1. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with
   faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic
   backgrounds.
   2. Expertise in instructional communication.
   3. Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
   4. Demonstrated scholarly activity (e.g., conference presentations or
   publications.)

Preferred Experience*:*

   1. A Ph.D. in Communication or other closely-related discipline from an
   accredited institution (or equivalent) is preferred, and an Ed.D. with the
   required experience will also be considered.
   2. Emphasis in communication and learning.
   3. Competency in the practice of culturally responsive teaching.
   4. Demonstrated commitment to pedagogy that integrates technology into
   teaching and learning.
