Hi all,
Another semester is drawing to a close! Hope you all are staying safe,
healthy, as well as somewhat catching up on work (as if that's possible!).
As a couple of wonderful colleagues and I have been working on a project
exploring the role of culture in pandemic navigation, I am proposing an
edited volume exploring the same theme: the role of culture in navigating
the pandemic. Lexington (Rowman and Littlefield) have expressed interest
pending a formal proposal. Would any of you be interested in contributing a
chapter?
I would be interested in knowing 1) your general interest by Friday,
December 25, and, if you are interested, would ask for 2) a 500-800 word
abstract by Friday, March 18. Of course, if you don’t think you can do
this, please let me know as soon as possible.

Here are some possible chapter themes:
- Covid norms/regulation and peer policing/commenting
- Discursive forms and local cultural norms
- Role of local conceptualizations of democracy (rights and
responsibilities)
- Agency and community
- Local norms restricting/allowing Covid compliance
- Conceptualization and discursive construction of authority
- Local context's role in compliance
- Local cultural terms related to covid

Again, the topics are not restricted and can employ various
EC/CDT/Codes/CuDA/DA/etc. methodologies.

International collaboration is welcomed and much appreciated!
 The volume's audience would be:
- Scholars in cultural communication interested in culture and health.
- Upper-level undergraduates or graduate students in cultural (and possibly
health) communication.

Thank you and I'm looking forward to your responses!
Warmly,
Nade

The University of Minnesota Morris is located on land that has been cared
for and called home by the Dakota people, and later the Ojibwe people and
other Native peoples from time immemorial. Our state’s name, Minnesota,
comes from the Dakota name for this region, Mni Sota Makoce – “the land
where the waters reflect the skies.” By offering this land acknowledgment,
we affirm tribal sovereignty and express respect for Native peoples and
nations.
