Dear All,

It was nice to see many of you at the ethnography of communication post-conference in Boulder!

One thing that became abundantly clear at this event is that folks working in the EC tradition continue to generate valuable scholarship that highlights the transnational (or even global) interconnectedness of our lives and the cultural specificity of how we live those lives in and through communication.

Our work is precisely the type of scholarship the new open access ICA journal, Global Perspectives in Communication<https://academic.oup.com/gpc>, is seeking to publish. The journal launched earlier this year. The Editor-in-Chief, Nick Bowman, described the journal to members of the editorial board (including yours truly) as "the Journal of Communication, as if it were launched in 2025." What this means, he clarified, is that he wants the journal to serve not only as an outlet for papers representing the state of the art in communication studies but also to capture the full global diversity of the field from the moment of its inception. If you would like to read more about how he is trying to accomplish this goal, visit the journal's LinkedIn<https://www.linkedin.com/company/gpccomm/posts/?feedView=all> and Bluesky<https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:k452b3lhqviccatn2cz274qk> accounts. For example, see this post<https://www.linkedin.com/posts/gpccomm_our-first-peer-review-requests-are-going-activity-7342548534954500096-Fxwz/> on LinkedIn for a bit of insight into how the journal's editorial policies translate principle into practice. (If you don't have access to these social media, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions about the journal.)

All of this is to say: please consider submitting your work to GPC!

Take care,

David
