I'm sure most of you know that ICA will meet in Glasgow in 2027. Before and after Glasgow there are interesting meetings taking place in Helsinki. In 24-27 May 2027 we are organizing Explorations in Ethnography, Language and Communication Conference in Helsinki. Yours truly is in organizing committee and our Leah Sprain (Univ of Colorado Boulder, USA) is one of the keynote speakers. Other keynotes are Hanna-M?ret Outakoski (S?mi University of Applied Sciences, Norway), Sari Pietik?inen (Univ of Jyv?skyl?, Finland) and Ben Rampton (King's College London, UK). The theme of the conference is "Language, Communication and Environments." This is a bi-annual meeting of the Linguistic Ethnography Forum (LEF) which is a Special Interest Group of the British Association of Applied Linguistics. The webpage and the call for papers opens in August 2026, and the deadline for submission of abstracts is October 2026. ICA takes place in Glasgow 3-7 June 2027. There are direct flights to/from/to Helsinki/Edinburgh. By train, you would travel via Sweden, Denmark.. and from Paris to London to Edinburgh/Glasgow. I believe there is also a boat connection from the Netherlands to UK. And finally, IPrA Conference takes place in Helsinki from 27 June to 2 July 2027. Call for papers below, DL 15 October 2026.
