We
are pleased to announce that the 7th International Symposium on the
Acquisition of Second Language Speech (New Sounds 2013) will take place on May
17-19, 2013, at Concordia
University in Montreal, Canada. New Sounds gathers researchers from
all over the world to discuss issues related to the teaching and learning of
second/foreign language (L2) phonetics, phonology, and pronunciation. 

The
conference will cover a variety of themes related to the acquisition of L2
phonetics, phonology, and pronunciation including:

speech
     perception and productiontheories of L2
     phonological learningphonetics and
     phonology in SLAacquisition of
     L2 phonology and phonotacticsmultilingualism
     and the acquisition of post-L2 phonologythe application
     of new technologies to pronunciation teaching and learningsociolinguistic,
     psycholinguistic, and neurolinguistic aspects of L2 phonological learning

     proceedings will be edited and published in The Concordia Papers in
     Applied Linguistics: http://doe.concordia.ca/copalWe also
     encourage presenters to submit longer manuscripts based on their talks to
     be considered for a special issue of La Revue canadienne des langues
     vivantes/The Canadian Modern Language Review on perception and
     production of second language speech. Further details will be provided at
     New Sounds 2013 and in a call for papers.
