Launch of FWSA book prize

The Feminist and Women's Studies Association (UK & Ireland) is delighted to
announce the inaugural FWSA Book Prize, a competition for books published in
the fields of feminist, women's and gender studies.
£500 prize
The FWSA Book Prize is intended to recognise scholarship
which is innovative, interdisciplinary and grounded in feminist
theory and practice. The 2009 competition is open to
scholars who were employed at, formally associated with,
or a postgraduate student at a British or Irish university or
research organisation between Jan 1st 2007 and Dec 31st
2008. Nominated books must be monographs or textbooks
and published in English. We welcome single or jointly authored
contributions but edited collections are not eligible. Submitted
books do not have to have a UK publisher.
The deadline for nominations is 31st January 2009.
Books may be self-nominated by authors or you can nominate
a book that inspired you. All entries will be judged by an external
interdisciplinary panel of feminist, women's and gender studies
scholars. The winner and short-listed entries will be announced
in June 2009 and will be featured in the FWSA newsletter. The
winner will be awarded a prize of £500.
