In case anyone is interested in films about linguistics and field research, the movie linked above, the Grammar of Happiness, about the Pirahas has just won the Young Europeans Jury Award at the 2012 FIPA festival in Biarritz. It will air in the US, Australia, France, and Germany later this year, as well as other countries. In the US it will be broadcast by the Smithsonian Channel. It includes beautiful footage of the Pirahas and the Amazon, as well as appearances by Chomsky, Pinker, Searle, and others.
