quasi-publishing

I am seeking advice on behalf of a colleague.She is looking for a way to 
make available a manuscript about conversation, most of which is 
detailed analyses of a set of actual conversations, but which she feels 
is not appropriate to be published as a book in the normal way, partly 
because it is very long (over 1200 pages) and partly because the fact 
that it is primarily detailed analyses means that it would be difficult 
to publish in the normal way.What she is looking for is some sort of 
"quasi-publication", where the manuscript would be accessible to people 
and where copies of it would find their way into at least some libraries 
so that it would be accessible in the distant future.

If any of you have suggestions as to where she might "quasi-publish" her 
manuscript, please let me know.
