Hi-
Just one comment for now, re structure:
>Structure:
>
>- President (3-year appointment)
>- Vice-President/President-Elect (3-year appointment)
>- Conference Chair (1-year appointment on Executive Committee, 2 years
>after that on the Conference Committee in advisory capacity)
>- Journal Editor (4 years)
>- Financial Officer (3 years, potentially renewable)
I'm wondering about the term for the journal editor. A job like that is
*so* complicated that learning the ropes can take a really long time, and 4
years may actually not be long enough. Could we check on what the terms
are for other journals? I know of three: Language is 7 years, Diachronica
is 5 years (I think), and the Journal of Germanic Linguistics (formerly
known as the American J of Germanic Ling & Lit, if I'm not mistaken) is
considering this right now and will probably be 5. What about other
journals? (Of course, there's always the "editor for life" model, like
IJAL, but I *don't* suggest following that! ;-)
