Methodologies

Hello,

A recent debate about Women's Studies and Appalachian studies (at WVU)
leads me to ask the following question.

Will this organization rely on the methodologies of its members' fields
(e.g. linguistic methodology, sociological methodology) or will it outline
a specific gender-and-language-studies methodology?

I ask because fields such as Appalachian studies have taken a backseat when
they have become anything other than a collection of specialists (in their
respective fields).
