Dear all

Many of you will be familiar with the 'Gender and Genre Bibliography' developed by the Gender and Language Research group at Lancaster University, which we find very useful for both teaching and research.

The second edition (2002) can be downloaded from

http://www.ling.lancs.ac.uk/pubs/clsl/wpapers.htm

Surin Kaur is about to start work on the third (2004) edition - adding new references and perhaps restructuring the work.

What she needs now is references to work on gender, language and one particular genre (genre in a very broad sense, including setting), e.g. chatshows, magazines, courtroom talk ... check the Bibliography for the complete list. These can be your own work as well as that of others. If you have a reference to work in a category which you think we don't curently have, that's great.

For reasons of space and accessibility, we have decided to exclude conference papers and dissertations/theses, unless available on the web.

We are expecting references mainly to work with a 2003, 2004 or forthcoming publication date, but older references which do not appear in the second edition are also welcome.

Please send all references to Surin (not me, or the GALA-L List) in the next few months. We haven't decided on the cut-off point but anything which doesn't make it will be saved for the 4th edition.

Best wishes to all

Jane Sunderland
