We've had a lot of interest in our language and gender in interaction class at the University of
Westminster for next semester and will be running 3 classes of students (20-25 per group). We
are looking for a visiting lecturer for one of these groups - are you interested? You'd be joining a
team of 2 experienced lecturers. The programme is devised and you'd have access to materials to
use and/ or adapt. You should have expertise in the subject area, some experience of teaching,
learning and assessment at HE level and a willingness to use active student-centred approaches to
teaching/ learning. Details as follows:
- A 3rd year undergraduate module 'Language and Gender in Interaction' on the BA English and
Linguistics combination
- Second semester starting week beginning January 14th 2008 and running for 12 consecutive
weeks (not including Good Friday) to April 4th (total of 11 classes)
- One 2 hour weekly class on Fridays from 2-4pm at the Regent Street campus (next to Oxford
Circus); 1st marking of 2 coursework assignments for your group (1 during the semester, 1 at the
beginning of May) and some 2nd marking/ moderation with module lecturers
- Pay is £41.75 per hour. The University will pay for 24 teaching hours + 10 hours for marking =
total 34 hours.
